Introducing the US 18+ DevEx Rate: Earn 42% More on Spend from 18+ US Players
Why We’re Doing This
The 18 to 34 user cohort on Roblox is growing over 50% year-over-year in the U.S.—and monetizes 50% higher than the under 18 cohort. We’re rewarding creators who build the genres, gameplay mechanics, and visual styles that appeal to this audience by increasing the DevEx rate by 42% for spend from age-checked 18 and older U.S. players in eligible games.
1. Based on Q1 2026 data. For further information, please see the Special Note Regarding Age-Check included in our Shareholder Letter, dated April 30, 2026 available on ir.roblox.com
What You Need to Know
Starting June 8, 2026, we’re increasing DevEx for a specific category of spend by 42%:
| Category of Spend | Current Rate | New Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible in-game spend by age-checked 18+ US users in eligible games | $0.38 per 100 Earned Robux | $0.54 per 100 Earned Robux |
Here’s how it works: You continue earning Robux exactly as you do today. The difference is when you go to cash out through DevEx, the Robux earned from eligible 18+ US spend is worth more. Eligible in-game spend includes game passes, Robux subscriptions, developer products, and private servers. In-game avatar items do not qualify.
Earnings from 18+ US players will appear separately in your Creator Analytics dashboard, so you’ll always know exactly what’s driving your payouts. You can cash out on a monthly basis using the same DevEx process you use today, and you start accumulating earnings at the higher rate the moment the US 18+ DexEx rate goes live on June 8.
Who Qualifies?
The increased DevEx rate applies to spend from players who are age-checked 18+ and reside in the US (determined by economic location, which excludes VPNs). To be eligible, games should use R15 avatars.
18+ players coming to Roblox expect a higher fidelity look and feel. R15 Avatars allow additional articulation (e.g., knees, elbows) thereby enabling more realistic movement, and enable layered clothing, expressive character systems, and many other features of modern gameplay.
Creator eligibility is not region-restricted. Any creator, including existing creators, whose game meets the eligibility requirements above is automatically eligible, no application required.
We will follow up with exact eligibility which covers games with custom avatars and games with no avatars.
Discovery Is Evolving Too
As the 18+ audience on Roblox grows, we’re also evolving how we surface games to them.
New sorts: We’ve already launched the dedicated sort ‘Standout Games’ that offers prime placement on Home to a curated set of novel games. In addition, we’ll be testing genre-focused sorts, activity-based sorts like “Because you played X,” and dedicated sorts for first-time players.
Algorithm evolution: We’re exploring broadening our algorithm signals to measure how players interact with your games across longer time horizons beyond the short term signals we primarily use today. Our goal is to ensure that games which retain players over the long run can be discovered by the largest possible audience that will enjoy them.
More visual variety on Home: Presentation plays an important role in how players evaluate recommendations. We’re testing bringing video previews directly onto Home to help players make more informed choices and give games more ways to stand out. We’re also testing new UI formats on Home, including a larger promotional tile. These formats create more space to highlight novel games, and other content, including ads.
New: Age Check API
Not all of your players will be age-checked 18+ US users, but the Age Check API will let you see which of your users are age-checked, and prompt the ones that aren’t to go through the age-check flow. Eligibility for the higher DevEx rate requires both age check and an economic location of the U.S.. The API helps you identify and grow that segment of your player base.
More info on implementation will be shared closer to launch. This is not required to qualify for the higher rate.

FAQ
What counts as eligible in-game spend?
- Game passes, developer products, in-game Robux subscriptions, and private servers all qualify. In-game avatar items and Marketplace items do not qualify.
Can I cash out this higher rate first?
- Yes. For DevEx, the US 18+ rate is cashed out first to maximize your earnings. More details on how this surfaces in group payouts and game analytics will be shared closer to launch.
How does the DevEx cashout work - how do I know which Robux is “US 18+ Robux”?
- Eligible 18+ US earnings are tracked separately. When you DevEx, your US 18+ Robux is always cashed out first (at the higher $0.54/100 Robux rate), so your highest-value Robux is applied first. We’re also improving how we surface this throughout the product - including better visibility into your earned rates, so you always have a clear view of where you stand.
When do I start earning at the higher DexEx rate?
- The moment the US 18+ DevEx rate goes live on June 8, 2026. There’s no separate application required. Eligibility is determined by meeting the requirements.
Do I need to be in the Incubator or Jumpstart program to qualify?
- No. Any creator, including existing creators, whose game meets the eligibility requirements qualifies, regardless of whether you’re part of those programs.
How do I know how much I’m earning from the US 18+ DevEx rate?
- Earnings from the 18+ rate will appear as a separate line item in your game analytics dashboard, with clear breakdowns of how your game is acquiring and converting eligible players.
How does the US 18+ DevEx rate work if a player is enrolled in Roblox Plus?
- The US 18+ DevEx rate and Plus incentive are not additive. You won’t receive both on the same Robux spend. Instead, you’ll receive the higher of the two, which is the US 18+ DevEx rate. Roblox applies whichever effective rate is most favorable to you, not a combination of both.
